On a Budget? 6 Foolproof Ways to Market Your Brand with a Product Video

Want to sit back in your chair and watch your products fly off the shelves? You do? Well, what are you waiting for? Put them to work, and have them be the star in their very own product video!

Product Video

What is a product video? The answer is simple: it’s a brief small business web video explaining the benefits the purchaser will get from using your product or service. We must stress there is an emphasis on “brief.” Think about the common saying, “A picture is worth 1,000 words.” Now think how many words a product video is worth…maybe around 10,000 words! Not only does the audience get to hear content about the product, but they get to see it visually in action.

This all boils down to one simple, yet serious, question:  What does it take to create a perfect product video?

Here are six foolproof ways to create a fantastic product video.

  1. Short is Key – Don’t bore your audience to death with mundane repetitive content. They will lose interest, and well, there goes a potential sale. Keep it short; about two minutes in length or less.

  2. Script, Edit, Film, Edit, Repeat – It’s the basic “how to market your business” know-how. Script out what you want to say about your product. Then edit the script down to the perfect length, which should leave you with the most important content. Let the artistic video juices flow and film your message. Once you film, make sure to edit again to ensure that you have a clear and concise product video. If you don’t like the result, then continue editing until you get it just right.

  3. Make it Professional – Business is professional, right? Your product video is a web video for business, so it should portray professionalism.  We all can’t be geniuses at everything, so if you don’t know how to make a professional looking video, then spend some time and watch what others do.  A professional video contains good sounds with clear lighting and typically a host. Watch some of your favorite professional videos for inspiration.

  4. Have a Common Voice – Consistency matters. If the written content on your website is formal, then your product video should be formal. This goes the same with an informal voice. It’s your brand the video is portraying and it should be genuine and true.

  5. Be the Trendsetter – To be honest, there are many great product videos out on the Internet. If you want yours to be “that one” that goes viral or at least generates a strong following, then you have to be creative when delivering your message.

  6. Deliver the Message – Bluntly tell the audience what they should do. Do you want them to subscribe to your newsletter, purchase the product/service, or interact with others on your website about your products? Don’t leave them guessing at the end of the video.
