2012 was a big year for video – from cats falling to babies laughing; we (sadly) watched it all. Some web videos, however, stood out from the rest – whether for comedic value or information offered. Therefore, without further ado, we give you Revolution Productions top five viral videos of 2012.

5. Dollar Shave Club

These guys made us laugh…and then buy their product. Dollar Shave Club’s low budget video went viral by entertaining us and offering a product. This is actually an explainer video that took off due to some very creative scripting and production.

4. The Dramatic Surprise on a Quiet Square

TNT does know drama, as we found out when this ad went viral. The company placed a Push to Add Drama button in a “quiet town in Belgium” recording what takes place next. It’s the comedic value and the viewer’s reactions that made this video so popular.

3. Call Me Maybe

Oh the power of Justin Bieber. This video was actually released in 2011, but thanks to Bieber-fever, this song skyrocketed in 2012. After Justin did a parody of the video with then-girlfriend Selena Gomez, it sparked thousands of other parodies, causing “Call Me Maybe” to be stuck in our heads forever.

2. Kony 2012
