Why Whiteboard Animation Makes an Impact

Now more than ever companies are tapping into the potential of whiteboard animation as a tool for communicating with current and prospective clients.

Businesses are incorporating video into their strategies and we have specifically seen the rise of the “web video” utilizing whiteboard animation as a great way to educate the target audience on a company’s offering. There are a lot of reasons why this is happening.  Video, in general, is great because tying visual stimulus to a human voice makes people much more likely to retain a company’s message rather than if they had simply read about it.  The mind is more engaged when narration is paired with visual illustration of an idea.  Not only does the message stick, but it can also be easier to communicate complex ideas through an animated video.

Additionally, the experience of watching whiteboard animation puts the viewer’s mind in learning mode, even if subconsciously.  Intuitively, the image of a whiteboard reminds us of school and our minds are expecting to receive an explanation of some sort.  Including the image of a hand drawing or writing in the video further emphasizes this concept and gives the teacher, or narrator, a visual presence.  Watch the latest video we produced using whiteboard animation for Blackhawk Network to see how this concept is applied:

Good whiteboard animation incorporates memorable images, movement and often times humor to draw the audience in and get them to focus on the message.  When the audience sees the effort that was put into presenting information in this way, they naturally infer that the information is important.

Presenting information in this format also helps the content creators.  There is obviously more cost associated with producing a video than, say, a whitepaper or infographic.  Due to the investment of resources and the fact that you cannot easily edit the content of your video later on (like you could with other methods of communicating your message), the content creators are compelled to spend more time making sure the message perfect before the whiteboard animation is produced.
